Description
Jim Bourton Memorial Agricultural Senior High School, Logba (JIBMASS) formally known as Logba Agricultural Secondary School (LASEC) was founded on 11 October 1979 with an initial enrolment of 20 boys and 10 girls as the sole initiative of the Logba Youth Association to promote Agricultural Education within Logba and its environs.
The school is located in Logba on the main Accra – Hohoe Eastern Corridor Road in the Afadzato South District of the Volta Region.
The school was renamed Jim Bourton Memorial Agricultural Secondary School in October 1996 after the late Mr Jim Bourton, a Canadian University Volunteer who joined the teaching staff on 14th April 1983 and later became the Headmaster on 30th April 1984. He was devoted and dedicated to the upliftment of the school. He met his untimely death on 18th February 1994 and was buried in front of the School’s Administration Block.
The school was absorbed as a government-assisted Senior High School in January 1992. From the struggles and perseverance of all who made this dream a reality came the Motto of JIBMASS - Patience and Perseverance
A historic moment was in September 2007 when the boarding status was approved with an initial number of 5 students and a kitchen staff. The school population now stands at 911 as of the 2024 academic year with 105 dedicated and hardworking teaching staff and 31 Non-Teaching staff.
The school currently runs Agriculture, Business Studies, Languages, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics, Applied Technology (Wood), Visual and Performing Arts, and introducing the STEM Programme (Information Technology)
